In summary: the Privacy Surgeon does NOT collect or share ANY personal information!
The longer version:
The Privacy Surgeon is strongly committed to protecting the privacy of its users.
The IP address that is associated with your visit will NOT be recorded for more than ten seconds. This is so our sites can serve pages to you. (The only exception is for “abusive” (automated) queriers that rapidly submit many queries to The Privacy Surgeon in a very short time.)
We don’t collect any personal information on our visitors.
When you use The Privacy Surgeon we do not record your IP address, we do not record which browser you are using (Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, etc.), we do not record your computer platform (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.), and we do not log anything you do while on our sites. The only information we do record is an aggregate total of how many visits are made to the sites.
Our zero data collection policy protects your privacy, since your IP address, browser, and platform information can be combined with other data to uniquely identify your computer, your location, or you.
This is the reason why we do not support unapproved comments on the site. If anyone has something they would like to submit they are free to email it to us and we will check its authenticity and then publish the material.
Cookies are small pieces of data that are sent and saved to your computer’s hard drive when visiting sites.
We don’t use them.
When you send comments, questions, suggestions, or feedback to The Privacy Surgeon via email, and include an email address and/or contact information The Privacy Surgeon may use this information to respond to you. The emails will be deleted after seven days. The Privacy Surgeon will not sell or disclose your contact information to any third parties.
If however you have chosen to subscribe to a Privacy Surgeon newsletter will retain your email address.
Apart from email addresses that are occasionally retained as above the Privacy Surgeon does not retain personal information and therefore has nothing to share with any third party. The Privacy Surgeon would only share personal information with third parties when obligated to do so by law (e.g. official court order or subpoena), or to protect against imminent harm to the rights, property or safety of The Privacy Surgeon, its users or the general public as required by law.
